Piercings we DO NOT do:
• Snake eyes
• Smiley/Anti-smiley/Tongue Web
• Tongue Scoop/Forward Scoop Piercing
• Finger web
• Dermal
Snake Eyes Piercing:
This piercing goes horizontally through the tip of the tongue, which can damage the muscles responsible for movement and speech. It often causes tooth and gum erosion, and the constant motion of the tongue makes it highly prone to rejection or migration.
Smiley / Anti-Smiley / Tongue Web Piercing:
These piercings go through the thin webbing in your mouth, which isn’t meant to hold jewelry. They often reject quickly, can cause gum recession or enamel damage, and may tear the tissue, especially with frequent mouth movement.
Tongue Scoop / Forward Scoop Piercing:
Unlike traditional vertical tongue piercings, these go horizontally through the tongue’s surface, risking nerve and muscle damage. They can interfere with eating, speaking, and healing, and tend to migrate due to constant movement.
Finger Web Piercing:
This surface piercing sits between the fingers, an area that’s constantly in motion and exposed to bacteria. It rarely heals well, often gets irritated or rejected, and has a high chance of infection due to frequent contact and movement.
Dermal Piercing:
Dermals are single-point piercings with a base under the skin and a decorative top. They can easily snag on clothing or objects, leading to pain, rejection, scarring, or infection, especially if they aren’t properly cared for.
Not everyone’s body is built for every piercing, and that’s completely okay! Because we are so unique, sometimes a piercing just won’t heal right or might cause issues because of our
anatomy. As piercers, we care about your safety and want you to have the best experience, so we’ll always be honest if something isn’t a good fit. It might feel disappointing, but it’s better to
skip a piercing than to go through pain or trouble later. Your body is one of a kind, and there’s always a piercing out there that will work perfectly for you!
